Week 19 & 20 - Hang Time with Abba

This week’s pull from the challenge bucket is to spend time with Abba. “Talk to him and ask him questions, hard ones too. He loves to spend time with his kids, so make time for Him. Watch for changes in your relationship.”

This will be a 2 week challenge as we come together for the weekend starting February 15.

This is prayer closet time. Some of you will already be doing this with your reading and journaling. Don’t be afraid to just sit and listen – soaking time would be good with worship music playing – or just sit in silence listening for the voice of the Father.

Make sure to remove all distractions like phones and electronics. Parents, it is best to wait until the kids are sleeping for this, so that you don’t get interrupted.

Below is the reading for Week 20 as it was not in your…

Mathew 26:22 How sad it must have been for the disciples as they examined their own hearts and coming to the conclusion that they were personally capable of betraying Jesus and wondering if they were the one who was going to do it rather than thinking it for sure it wasn't them and pointing fingers and accusing one of their brethren, instead their finger was pointed at themselves.

Week 18 - Pen Pal with Abba

This week’s pull from the challenge jar is to write/type a letter to Papa God every day this week. Write this in letter format and not a journal entry. This can be addressed to Papa, Jesus or Holy Spirit.

The letters can be any length, but you should expect Him to respond.

For at least one of the letters, write his response back to you. Prepare to be rocked by what he writes through you.

WEEK 17 - Honor the Servants

This week’s pull from the challenge bucket is to honor those who serve in your community. This is to be the ones who generally receive very little honor like police and janitors.

Ask God to highlight what that looks like for you. This is a good opportunity to put your faith into action and recognize those who serve and are often treated dishonorably or ignored.

Bring them a gift, help them do their job, pray for them or anything else God puts on your heart to make these servants feel loved and valued.

I had a lot of fun handing out thank you notes in the airports! It is so unexpected! Gave one to a couple security guards in Sao Paulo who were believers and got to pray for one of them. It was really cool...even though we couldn't really understand each other...

Week 16 - Fast as unto the Lord

This weeks challenge from the challenge jar is to fast.

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

Isaiah 58:6-7

Now that you have spent the last couple of weeks praying and journaling the year that was and the year to come, take some time to quiet yourself and set your eyes on the Lord. Read Isaiah 58 the whole chapter to get a real sense of what fasting is and what it is not.

"When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure…
